Dental Implants
Dental implants are a lasting option in contrast to dentures for tooth restoration. Made from titanium or zirconium, dental implants are infused into the jawbone to function as the tooth’s root. They are then capped with a crown or bridge for a complete, natural-looking tooth replacement.
Advantages of Dental Implants
- A permanent solution for tooth loss.
- Improve chewing and speaking ability.
- Improve facial appearance.
- Replace one or more teeth without affecting the surrounding teeth.
- No special care or diet restrictions are required.
Do implants hurt?
Putting an implant is often simpler than taking a tooth out and is generally done utilizing a simple local anesthetic. You won’t feel any pain at the time but, just like after an extraction, you may feel some uneasiness amid the week after the surgery.

The dental team will give you guidelines on the most proficient method to look after your implant. The team may give you some painkillers after the surgery – or make sure you have some at home – to take over the next few days if you need them.
What happens next?
After your implants have been placed, the bone in your jaw needs to grow onto them and fuse to them. This usually takes a few months. At times the implants might be stable enough when they are placed for the false teeth to be fitted sooner than this.
If you are having one, two or three teeth replaced, you may have a brief denture meanwhile. If you already have full dentures, you can continue wearing these while your implants are healing. Your dentures will require altering, to fit appropriately after the surgery, and a ‘healing cap’ will typically be placed onto the implant site to protect it.
